PAKISTAN NATIONAL DAY, 23 MARCH

Islamabad: Pakistan Day (Yaum-e-Pakistan) or Pakistan Resolution Day, also known as Republic Day, is a national holiday in Pakistan that recognizes the Lahore Resolution, which was passed on March 23, 1940, and the first Pakistani constitution, which was adopted on March 23, 1956. The resolution is remembered as the country's transition from the Dominion of Pakistan to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, becoming the first Islamic republic in history. Every year, the day is celebrated as a public holiday. One of the 23rd March's main features is an army parade broadcast on national television.

Diving into history, the Muslim League held its annual session at Minto Park in Lahore, Punjab, on 23rd March 1940. The party was headed by Quaid e Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah along with other prominent names. The historical resolution cemented the formation of a nation-state in South Asia as Pakistan, named The Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

The President of Pakistan attends the celebrations of 23rd March in the capital city, Islamabad. The Prime Minister of Pakistan, Cabinet ministers, chairman of the joint chiefs, and military chiefs of staff are also present in the ceremony. At the mausoleums of Pakistan's founders, Muhammad Iqbal and Muhammad Ali Jinnah, wreaths are laid with great honor. After the parade, the President delivers a speech, and national awards and medals are distributed at the Presidency.
